Theory Instruction To make the most of it, you need to be self-disciplined and success-oriented. Nobody tells you to do your work, and there isn't a lesson time for which you need to be prepared. But if you are able to work in this setting, it's convenient--you work at home, and send in your results when it's convenient for you. How does it work? You buy a copy of the appropriate textbook--Expanded Introductory Harmony, Revised Senior Harmony, or Counterpoint. Read through the first chapter, and send any questions to us; then do the exercises for that chapter. The exercises are sent to us in one of these formats: Finale, Sibelius, or hand-written. Hand-written can be sent as scanned images, by email, or by fax (but they have to be clear enough to be legible). With them you send the instruction/marking fee of $12 per page. We mark your work, and explain anything that seems not to be clear, and send back commentary by email. If you have further questions, there's no extra charge. If you have serious problems, we can supply more exercises. Further questions? Write to David Cameron at cdc@post.queensu.ca. |
